Eligibility

  • Resident transfers must fit the current RBI Liberalised Remittance Scheme, an eligible purpose, the customer's remaining annual utilisation and applicable FEMA, tax and bank checks.
  • The SBI page was last updated 8 April 2025; confirm the current LRS ceiling, permitted purpose, live exchange rate, fees, tax collection, limits and required evidence before remitting.
  • NRI use is described for remittance from an NRE account; channel and purpose availability should be confirmed with SBI.

Passing a listed condition does not mean the bank will approve an application.
