Waiting periodInitial illness waiting period: 30 days from the first policy commencement (not applicable to renewals or accidents). Pre-existing disease (PED) waiting period: 24 months of continuous coverage, subject to declaration and acceptance; portability can reduce it by prior continuous coverage. Listed disease/ procedure waiting periods: 24 months for cataract, benign prostatic hypertrophy, hernia, deviated nasal septum, hypertrophied turbinate, hydrocele, sinus conditions, fistulae/ haemorrhoids/ fissure, specified gynaecological conditions, internal/ external tumours or cysts (other than malignant growth), prolapsed-disc surgery unless accidental, varicose-vein surgery, gastric/ duodenal ulcers, urinary/ biliary stones, and ear/ tonsil surgery; 36 months for organ transplant, rheumatoid arthritis, gout, degenerative joint replacement, and age-related osteoarthritis/ osteoporosis unless medically necessary due to injury. Maternity waiting: dependent spouse after 3 continuous annual premiums and 24 months' continuous cover; self after 4 continuous annual premiums and 36 months' continuous cover.
